COVID-19 Updates May 11, 2020
Keeping our Community Healthy !
I am committed during this time to finding the best practices for an optimal sanitary environment, while keeping clients and I safe & healthy! I am following all guidelines set forth by the Center for Disease Control + the World Health Organization, Dept. of Public Health and will continue tracking all new recommendations. I am extremely fortunate to have consulting me during these times my partner who is a HIV Clinical Pharmacist/Program Coordinator at Kaiser Permanente, San Francisco. Her specialization and work in infectious disease during this time has kept me informed and on top of this fluid and evolving issue.
Please don’t hesitate to call me with your questions or concerns, especially in regards to exposure and symptoms. I am here to listen, so please notify me of any concerns as early as possible. While at my facility, please observe the following health protocols:
PRE-APPOINTMENT: Health Screening Questionnaire(any signs, have you been tested? results?when? why? Possible exposure? Risk Factors? ) Temperature taken before, must wear masks, no touch payment.
Coughing and Sneezing Etiquette: Cover mouth and nose with a tissue when you cough or sneeze. Put used tissue in waste basket immediately. If you don’t have a tissue, cough or sneeze into your upper sleeve, not your hands.
Hand Hygiene: WASH OFTEN, with soap and water: Wet hands with clean, running water (warm or cold), turn off the tap, and apply soap. Lather hands by rubbing them together with the soap. Lather the backs of your hands, between fingers, and under nails Scrub hands for at least 20 seconds. Rinse hands well under clean, running water. Dry hands using a clean towel or air dry them. If soap and water is not available, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer: Apply the gel product to the palm of one hand (read the label to learn the correct amount). Rub hands together. Rub the gel over all the surfaces of hands and fingers until your hands are dry. This should take around 20 seconds.
My in-house precautionary protocols: As many already know how i keep my office/treatment area surgically clean(my approach) I am committed to upgrading and using even more precautions. The use of hospital-grade solutions to wipe down door handles, treatment table, head rests after each session. I also wipe down all frequently-used surfaces, like handles, keyboards, pens, stools, room accessories, and all massage supplies (like lotion containers), etc. We’ll have extra cleaning wipes available for easy-use — in the treatment room, the break room. Each individual on staff will participate in disinfecting after themselves, each other, and all clients. I've purchased hands-free options for hand sanitizers for staff and clients — including pump bottles for therapy rooms and an automated dispenser for reception area. We have masks and gloves should a client request the use of. We’ve removed breath mints from therapy rooms. I will be using a HEPA air filtration system. As always, I will scrub hands and arms (past elbow) after/before each session, with soap. As always, linens are changed after each session. For now, instead of the normal handshake, I'll be welcoming my clients warmly with words and smile. Our team is in close communication around this issue to support each other and our clients to create a SAFE & HEALTHY environment. With that said we need your help also by abiding by our policies and standards as we shift back into business. A TEAM approach is the only way we will come out ahead of these challenging times.
We will get through this even stronger and wiser! I look forward to opening up appointments as soon i am allowed to do so. I miss being able to help everyone during this time, but i see everyone staying active and healthy and know how much your going to benefit getting back in for treatments when the time comes! :) Until then stay safe & healthy and be part of the solution!
